Job Title: Senior Accountant

Location: Chicago, IL

Salary: $90K + with Bonus

Work Environment: 3 days onsite / 2 days WFH

Job Description:

The Senior Accountant/Financial Analyst will play a critical role
in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of our
financial records and financial reporting. With meticulous
attention to detail, in-depth knowledge of accounting principles,
and the ability to work independently and collaboratively will
contribute to the firm’s financial success.

Responsibilities:

* Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements on a Cash
Basis
* Utilize accounting software to maintain financial records and
generate reports
* Prepare and file State and Local Business/Occupational/Use Tax
Returns
* Recommend and implement improvements to financial systems and
processes
* Analyze complex financial data, including partner compensation
models, practice group profitability, and client billing metrics,
to assess the firm’s overall financial health.
* Develop and maintain sophisticated financial models to forecast
revenue, expenses, and cash flow, considering factors specific to
the law firm landscape (e.g., lateral hiring, client
concentration, contingencies).
* Partner with senior management to develop and implement the
annual budget, including variance analysis and performance
monitoring.
* Prepare comprehensive financial reports (e.g., partner
profitability reports, practice group performance reports).
* Ensure accuracy and completeness of the general ledger
* Assist the annual budget and forecast and provide explanations
regarding variances
* Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions
* Complete monthly bank, balance sheet, and credit card
reconciliations
* Assist in the preparation and coordination of annual financial
audits
* Monitor cash flow and work to optimize cash management
* Maintain organized and accurate financial documentation for
audit and legal purposes
* Other projects assigned by the Director of Finance

Qualifications:

* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
* 5+ years of experience in a law firm or professional services
environment
* Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office products,
specifically Excel
* Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Strong time management skills to meet deadlines and prioritize
tasks effectively
